UK Motor Insurance Fraud

Every year Whiplash injuries cost the UK motor insurance industry up to £1 Billion year. We are concerned that many people do not see the seriousness of making a false claim and the repercussions that can be imposed.

In the past whiplash injuries have been difficult to prove, but with new medical scanners which are able to scan the soft tissues in the neck for damage. This should help to reduce the number of fraudulent claims and will allow doctors to be able to assess a patient's condition more accurately.

It is an offence under UK motor insurance law to make a false insurance claim, if you are discovered to be lying, you can face a large fine, or perhaps even prison. This also applies to persons who knowingly aid in the deception. Therefore we would strongly advise anyone thinking about making a fraudulent claim to re-consider.

There are a number of things that you can do to help prevent whiplash, the most important being ensuring that your head supports (if present) are properly adjusted. You should not be able to arch your neck over the back of the rest.
