98% of convicted dangerous drivers are men according to leading online insurance broker GirlMotor.com
For many years the battle of the sexes has been dominated by one question; which sex is the better driver? Recently released statistics from leading online insurance broker GirlMotor.com have confirmed what women have known and men have dreaded for a long time, the girls have the upper hand when it comes to getting behind the wheel. Figures show that although women do have more claims on their insurance policies than men, they are for smaller accidents such as scrapes and prangs; unlike claims by men, consistently shown to be for more serious and mostly life-threatening accidents. In 1998, a survey from the Automobile Association found men drive faster and break the law more often than their female counterparts, and are more likely to be killed. The latest statistics release from the Department of Transport show a massive 89% of all road traffic offences are committed by men. An independent survey carried out by GirlMotor.com, found that 70% of men admitted to occasionally breaking the speed limit compared to 30% of women and 18% of men rated themselves as an aggressive driver compared to 7% of women. With the number of women drivers growing faster than the number of men, most of them are no longer satisfied with the stereotypical small engine run-around, they want fast, powerful cars instead. David Harlow, managing Director of GirlMotor.com comments: “Women drivers do have lower insurance premiums than men as we have found them to be a lower insurance risk when it comes to claims. Women drive differently to men. They drive shorter distances, their mileages are lower and they usually drive more slowly. The modern trend for women to have better, faster and more flash cars means that the female reputation for being safer drivers is going to go in their favour. At GirlMotor.com we specialise in insurance specifically for women and those women who want to get a cheaper quote for better cars.”Date - 04/04/2003
