InsureYourMotor.com rev it up for Harley’s 100th birthday!
Leading online motor insurance broker, InsureYourMotor.com are proud to announce their sponsorship of Harley Davidson’s 100th birthday celebrations to take place on 27th July 2003 across the UK and beyond. The Sculpture Road Tour and Freedom Ride will be the largest birthday party and motorcycle rally in history with up to 1 million people and 500,000 motorcycles expected to take part across the UK and US to witness and follow a giant motorcycle sculpture on its way home to Milwaukee; the birth place of Harley. The Harley Davidson Fat Boy bronze cast sculpture is the world’s largest motorbike sculpture measuring 17feet long, 10 feet high and weighing 3 tons. It will make a unique road tour from the foundry in Braintree, Essex, to the traditional 1960s biker hangout, the Ace Café, on to the Tate Modern and returning to the Ace Café via The House Of Parliament and Buckingham Palace. Over 500 Harley’s are expected to escort the ride through the UK aiming to promote the art work and raise funds to help transport it to the USA for the 100 year celebrations. All profits are to be donated to the Muscular Dystophy Association. The event is estimated to be costing £1/4 million to organise, £100,000 of which has been spent on the giant Fat Boy sculpture. InsureYourMotor.com, who specialise in insurance for motorcyclists with high performance machines as well as cars and vans, have donated a welcome £5000 to the event to show their support for the motorcycling world. Anyone with a motorcycle can join in, it doesn’t necessarily have to be a Harley – come and join in!” After the ride on 27th July, the sculpture will be shipped from Southampton to the USA where it will makes its journey from Washington DC through to its final destination of Milwakee, USA.
